United Living support launch of the Mid Surrey Community Fridge van
The Mid Surrey Community Fridge van has been launched at an event in Dorking.
United Living, along with Clarion and several other companies, have sponsored and supported the community initiative in getting the van up and running.
The aim of Mid Surrey Community Fridges is to redistribute good but surplus food for free to the people of Mid Surrey, through two community fridges in Dorking, one in Leatherhead and a mobile van.
Clare Davies, Co-Founder at Mid Surrey Community Fridges, said: “United Living have sponsored our awning which helps us distribute food in the rain from our new van. At the moment we are on the road one day a week and plan a second day by the end of the month. We are shifting over 1500 kilos of surplus food a week and look forward to getting out distributing more to those who need it.”
Jacqueline Noon, Social Value Manager at United Living South, said: “We are really pleased to help support this wonderful community initiative, where excess food is redistributed to those who need it for free. Now the van has been launched the food can be delivered to a wider area and help many more people which enhances the support Mid Surrey Community Fridges provides.”
