Supporting the delivery of affordable homes
Karbon Homes builds, manages and looks after affordable homes for people in the North. Their aim is to give all customers the strong foundations they need to get on with life.
United Living’s own values are to ensure we help our customers create great places where people enjoy living and provide the essential services that supports daily life.
So, we were delighted when asked to support the delivery of three new high-quality developments on behalf of Karbon Homes. The project is set to deliver 115 new affordable homes for families in need across the County Durham area.
Employed as principle contractor on the full end-to-end, land led project, we have assisted with the sourcing and acquisition of land, sought appropriate planning permissions and will also work on the construction of the homes themselves.
We are currently working on three sites that will deliver 66 new homes in Esh Winning, 30 in Pelton Fell and 19 in Annfield Plain. Karbon, who have worked closely with Durham County Council, were able to identify the housing demands in each of the three communities and so have been able to plan for a mix of Affordable Rent and Rent to Buy homes to suit the differing requirements.
Zoey Hawthorne, Assistant Director of Delivery at Karbon Homes, said: “We are making a significant investment in these high quality new developments in County Durham and we’re glad to be working with Partner on these projects.
“Our development programme regionwide is currently providing around 500 new homes each year which make a significant contribution to meeting housing need in the North East.”
Graeme Walton, Contract Manger at Partner Construction, a subsidiary of United Living New Homes said: “We jumped at the opportunity to support as principle contractor on this development programme. Our experience in this sector means that we have been able to support with a full turn-key solution from sourcing and acquiring the land, right through to the design and build of the homes themselves.
“We very much look forward to working closely with the delivery team to help Karbon Homes meet the regions housing needs.”
