United Living New Homes provides a boost to key workers children’s nursery

As a purpose-driven organisation, United Living Group works hard to deliver lasting change for the communities in which it operates.

In keeping with that ethos, members of United Living New Homes teamed up with children from First Steps day nursery in Chertsey to plant new flowers & help create a vibrant front garden full of life and colour. Landscape professionals provided Horticultural assistance, Archway Green Ltd, who had a team on-site to assist the children with their garden experience.

The planting is part of a broader programme of improvement works at the nursery by United Living New Homes as part of its 147 new home development for NHS workers at St Peter’s Hospital, which sits adjacent to the nursery. Improvement works will include installing a brand-new play area and a complete refurbishment of their premises, providing a boost to the learning environment and enhancing the positive experience children have at the nursery.

Dawn Hunt, Childcare Manager, Ashford and St Peters Hospitals, said: “We would like to thank Farhan Mohamed and Warren Lubin from United Living New Homes, who have taken an interest in the nursery and play scheme and provide their ongoing support to help us provide a service of childcare for the Trust.

“The children had an amazing morning, they were still talking about it this morning when I went to see them, and that’s three days later. I don’t think you realise the impact you have made on the nursery, and we are very grateful for all your ongoing support. We just love these types of surprises.”

Farhan Mohamed, Project Manager, United Living New Homes, said: “Working with the kids to do the landscaping of their nursery has been an absolute pleasure. Almost all kids at the nursery are children of key workers from St. Peters Hospital.

“I’m sure the planting session and the planned refurbishment works will be remembered long after completing our works and gone. It’s not often that we get a chance to do something which adds value to our surroundings and helps the community, and this is in line with leaving a lasting legacy.”

Tanya Vines, Development Manager, Delivery and Construction at Optivo, said: “The lovely pictures of the children put a smile on my face. A great way giving something back and a big well done & thank you from me”.
