United Living Property Services bags’ top hatting’ project

United Living Property Services has secured a unique development project to boost housing capacity in Edgware, London.

On behalf of Barnet Homes, the £6 million project will provide 18 new flats by building an extra storey on top of 5 existing blocks along Burnt Oak Broadway.

The homes are all for London Affordable Rent with a grant from the Greater London Authority and will be owned by London Borough of Barnet Council.

To meet a range of local housing needs, the mix of properties being built on five blocks consists of seven one-bed 2-person flats, eight two-bed 3-person flats & three two-bed four-person flats.

The project also includes improvements to the estate’s public realm, parking and communal areas, as well as landscaping works and sustainable transport infrastructure, with new cycle spaces provided for residents to use.

Dave Rooney, Managing Director, United Living Property Services, said: “We are delighted to have entered into a contract with Barnet Homes to deliver this exciting project. By creating new flats vertically, we can provide new affordable homes within the existing building footprint, which will help meet the area’s housing needs innovatively”.

Derek Rust, Group Director of Growth & Development, The Barnet Group, said: “For Barnet Homes, this is an innovative opportunity to increase the supply for affordable housing within the Council’s existing housing stock.

“The roofs at Burnt Oak Broadway were already in need of replacement, so the opportunity to deliver more housing on this rooftop to meet Barnet’s housing need, as well as saving the cost of the replacement flat roof, is a win/win. We look forward to working with United Living Property Services on this new development”.
