United Living Property Services site manager recognised for 42 years service
At United Living Group, the dedication of our people and the shared values that unite us give our many customers & partners the confidence to trust us and do business with us.
This dedication is reflected by Tony Whale, from our Property Services pillar of the business, who recently celebrated an incredible 42 years of service.
Currently a site manager, Tony has had a wide variety of roles with the business so far. He started out as a plumbing labourer before becoming a site supervisor and then progressed to site management.
To thank Tony for his incredible service, he was presented with a 55” Samsung Crystal UHD TV (pictured with Tommy Nightingale, Operations Manager at United Living Property Services).
We spoke with Tony to find out more about his experiences over the last 42 years.
What are your best memories so far at United Living?
“Working with so many great people past and present.”
Proudest moment in a UL shirt?
“Completing Bessborough Place, a contract for the crown estate which was one of my first contracts. It was tough, unrewarding and at times I wondered if this was the career for me.”
“The strangest experience happened in the early days of Harp Heating, when unloading materials at 06.30am in Chingford to a residents front garden and a cow was standing there. As always we just got on with the job in hand and unloaded the lorry and left the material with the cow to look after them.”
Any stand out projects?
“Demolition of the Bishop’s warehouse next to Victoria railway station with a pub attached in one corner which had to be retained and remain open (there’s always a plus). More recently Grove Park was very difficult and challenging but also enjoyable.”
Any other comments?
“There has been so many changes over the years, and rightly so, nothing stays the same for ever, but I have enjoyed the journey to where we are now, if I hadn’t then I would not be here today.”
Andy Broadbent, Divisional Director at United Living Property Services, said: “I am very happy to see Tony receive recognition for his incredible length of service with us. Over the years he has played a pivotal role across a variety of projects, and through his time with us has become a fountain of knowledge and expertise. Thank you Tony for your continued support and dedication in helping United Living deliver first in class service within our industry.
“This recognition highlights that people can develop and forge long and successful careers within United Living. Here’s to the next 42 year recognition award….. I’ve 38 to go!”
