Popular local community centre receives a facelift thanks to United Living

At United Living Group, we are committed to delivering social value as part of all our projects, supporting community projects and organisations across the UK.

A popular and well-used community drop-in centre in South Wales has received a welcome facelift thanks to United Living Property Services (ULPS).

The community drop-in centre in Blaen-Y-Maes, Swansea, is run by volunteers and supported by kind donations is a hub for residents of all ages, hosting a range of different functions and activities for local people.

The community drop-in centre also helps individuals and families all year, whether it be a cup of tea & chat, providing access to various facilities such as free access to the Internet and phone calls, food share and workshops.

The makeover included improvements to the social hub, building disabled access ramps in and around the centre to make it more accessible for less mobile residents and adding a patio to the rear of the community centre to replace the grassed area.

One Blaen Y Maes resident said: “It is truly amazing to see people care about our community as United Living has. The extra ramps will allow more people to use the centre, and the new outdoor space will make local gatherings and events achievable in the future”.

Lindsay Dutton, Resident Liaison Officer, said: “The work we have carried out for Blaen Y Maes community gives us a great sense of pride and accomplishment. At United Living, we are always striving to help out in communities and being able to give something back to a centre which helps their community so greatly is an amazing achievement for everyone involved”.

ULPS is currently working on improving Swansea City Council’s housing stock to Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS). The work scope includes bathroom replacements, kitchen replacements, electrical testing, electrical rewire and soil & vent pipe replacements.
