United Living signs Armed Forces Covenant
United Living Group is pleased to announce that it has signed the Armed Forces...
Domestic Abuse Charity, Broxtowe Women’s Project (BWP), has welcomed a generous donation of £500 from United Living Group.
Chris Harrison, United Living Group Site Manager, along with Debbie Johnson, Broxtowe Borough Council’s Aids and Adaptations Officer and Howard Draper, Broxtowe Borough Council’s Modernisations Officer, presented to the cheque to BWP’s CEO Colette Byrne and Helen Powell at a Cream Tea event on 20 July.
The donation was made after colleagues from our Property Services division worked closely with Helen, a survivor of Domestic Abuse supported by BWP, to tailor their service while they worked to make improvements to her house.
The team quickly gained a deep understanding of the struggles and stress women who have experienced Domestic Abuse feel when allowing tradespeople to access their home.
Helen said: “I was so stressed and worried, but they really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. We put in measures that I needed to feel safe and reassured. Not one man came into the house before being introduced and me being prepared.”
Chris from United Living Group said: “As a business, we are committed to delivering a lasting impact through helping to address societal issues such as Domestic Abuse in the villages, towns, and cities where we operate.
We’re pleased that we could help Helen, and we learned so much about the lifelong struggles women who have experienced Domestic Abuse face. From Helen and BWP. Building on this experience, we’ll be able to take forward with women and families in similar situations in the future”.
Colette Byrne added: “We would like to thank United Living Group, not only for this generous donation, but also for taking so much time and care to adapt to Helen’s needs while carrying out this work. We know that they have learned could make a huge difference to more women in the future.”
United Living Group has been working with Broxtowe Borough Council since 2003 to deliver the new housing modernisation programme across its housing stock.
