How to apply

The application process

Most of our early careers vacancies are published on our website in Autumn/Winter, however, additional vacancies may become available throughout the year, so keep an eye on our careers portal if you are interested in joining our team.

Stage 1: Application

Once you’ve found the role you want to apply for on our vacancies page, click the ‘I’m interested’ button and submit your application. Make sure your CV includes any qualifications and grades required or listed in the advert. We’re interested in understanding what draws you to United Living and why you’ve chosen this career path. We kindly request that you do not use AI to generate your application.

Stage 2: Initial Screening

If you pass our initial review, you may be asked to complete a selection of online skills assessments. These assessments help us shortlist candidates for interviews or assessment centres.

Stage 3: Interview or Assessment Centre

If you’re shortlisted, we’ll invite you to an interview or an assessment centre. Depending on the role, these may be face-to-face or virtual. This is a great chance for you to learn more about us, the role and your potential team, as well as for us to learn more about you.

Stage 4: Outcome

After all interviews are completed, we’ll inform you of the outcome and whether you’ve secured a place on our programme. Before your programme begins, we’ll keep you updated with United Living news and introduce you to your new team members and our wider early careers community, ensuring you’ll feel welcome and recognise some familiar faces on your first day.

Their stories

Hear from our apprentices

No two apprenticeship journeys are the same and that’s why, we’re proud to provide diverse and enriching opportunities for our apprentices. Hear more from some of our talented apprentices below, as they talk about their own journey and the valuable skills they’ve acquired at United Living.

Jacob Hemsworth – Apprentice Site Manager
Brandon Sullivan – Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
Rhiannon Westacott – Assistant Quantity Surveyor
The best part of being an apprentice here at United Living is the inclusive and friendly environment, where everyone always feels included. My apprenticeship has developed my communication and time management skills and my attitude towards problem-solving. If anyone is looking to do an apprenticeship, United Living is the place to build your career.

Oliver Thomson

Trainee Office & Field Based Electrician

Oliver eaton apprentice of the year
Starting as an apprentice at 17, I am now 25 and on the path to being a senior delivery manager. My confidence and skills have grown massively in seven years due to the support I have received from senior staff members and colleagues. United Living is a brilliant company to work for and will support you throughout your career.

Caitlin Bennett

Delivery Manager

One of the best things about being an apprentice is seeing the country and places I didn’t expect to visit. My apprenticeship has also allowed me to grow as a person, which has massively improved my mentality and helped my life outside of work. If you’re looking to do an apprenticeship, I would recommend United Living.

Beau Sidwell

Trainee Rigger

United Living supported me during my apprenticeship and then offered me the opportunity to continue my professional development with a CIPD qualification. Throughout school and college, I was sure I would go to university. I am glad that I chose an apprenticeship and would 100% recommend it as a viable career path. You will not look back.

Georgia Milanovitch

HR Representative

My apprenticeship is my first job since leaving college, so I have developed most of the skills needed in a workplace to take forward in life with me, in the office and now in the field. I know how to manage workloads, how to manage work relationships, and how to carry myself in the workplace. It is the perfect place for me to develop and start my working life.

our COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP

Hydrogen training centre

United Living partnership with Riverside College and National Gas

Our Infrastructure Services team has worked closely with the college to develop a training centre and apprenticeship scheme to deliver a fresh pipeline of skilled welders to support the present and future needs of the energy network.

Accredited by TWI & IGEM, the scheme offers blended learning, with physical and digital on-site training. It also supports up-skilling and explores retraining opportunities to allow skilled adults to move between various green energy sectors, which will be vital for achieving the UK’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
