United Living have been really supportive of my apprenticeship, and they’ve provided me with a mentor and a Learning & Development Manager who’s helped me along the way. As a Quantity Surveyor, I love being able to spend time on site whilst also spending time in the office. On site I get to see the first-hand challenges that our operational teams face but also get huge job satisfaction from seeing the improvements we’ve made to the places that people live.

I’ve learnt a lot in my apprenticeship so far. The team on site have been really helpful and supportive. There’s a great culture on site, we have a good team. Even though it gets busy, we work together to manage goals and the time frames we work to. I’ve gained more confidence, not only in my role but in my personal experience too and I hope I can one day apply this in being a manager on site.

I found this incredible opportunity enlightening and educational to say the least! Observing the cohesive teamwork working towards the project completion has inspired me to pursue further knowledge in this field.

our COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP

Hydrogen training centre

United Living partnership with Riverside College and National Gas

Our Infrastructure Services team has worked closely with the college to develop a training centre and apprenticeship scheme to deliver a fresh pipeline of skilled welders to support the present and future needs of the energy network.

Accredited by TWI & IGEM, the scheme offers blended learning, with physical and digital on-site training. It also supports up-skilling and explores retraining opportunities to allow skilled adults to move between various green energy sectors, which will be vital for achieving the UK’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
