Creating a lasting legacy in the communities we operate

Long term partnership

United Living Property Services (ULPS) and Wolverhampton Homes have been working in close partnership for over 15 years to upgrade the City of Wolverhampton council’s housing stock. ULPS is also delivering the £150 million regeneration of the Heath Town estate, creating great new places to live and a community that residents can be proud of.

A positive social impact

A key priority for ULPS and Wolverhampton Homes is to leave a positive, lasting legacy, aligned with the local community’s needs –
creating impactful change, fostering economic growth, and transforming as many lives as possible.

We work closely with Wolverhampton Homes CRS group, local charities, community organisations, tenants’ and resident associations, and good causes to ensure that all voices are heard, supported, and represented. At United Living we believe that together, we achieve more.

The Hope Community Project

The charity, based on the Heath Town estate, was formed in 1985 and supports people of all ages in the community. In 2017, it was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee award for voluntary service, the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK.

ULPS has worked closely with the Hope Community Project for many years, providing financial support with the community in mind, including a £10k food bank sponsorship per year for the next five years. ULPS staff also help to cook and deliver Christmas meals for local families and individuals across Wolverhampton.

ULPS has also donated equipment for the new IT suite and provided access to United Living’s E-learning platform, supporting people into work, and developing new skills. ULPS also help to facilitate family fun days throughout the summer period.

Supporting people into employment

Creating opportunities for residents is a key focus. We work closely with local schools and colleges, providing apprenticeship and trainee opportunities for young people, helping them develop new skills, secure long-term employment and gain valuable site experience for their chosen qualifications. We also work closely with Wolverhampton University to support graduate work placements.

To date, the project has supported:

• Hundreds of work and trainee placements, including 30 apprenticeships.
• Local site workers, who come from specific Wolverhampton postcodes (WV), supporting the City of Wolverhampton Council’s ‘Wolverhampton Pound’ initiative, which aims to retain and grow local wealth and prioritise local spending.
• £20k per year donation to Wolverhampton Homes CSR activities to support city wide good causes.
• 300 staff volunteering hours per year.

Environmental improvements

Extensive landscaping has been carried out on the estate, with new play areas for children and families bringing the local community together. Extra parking has been provided for residents and modern bin stores installed, improving recycling on the estate. We have also improved security lighting and installed door access controls to each block.

ULPS donated time and money to help create allotment space at the Back to Eden project in Heath Town. The project aims to address longstanding and documented underlying health inequalities among the African Caribbean community, provide an environment that supports people’s health and wellbeing, and stimulate community spirit through friendships, exercise, and healthy eating.
