Stuart and colleagues pitch in for The Street Soccer Foundation
United Living’s Stuart Laird, COO and managing director (South), recently spent a night sleeping under the stars to experience homelessness firsthand in a bid to raise funds and awareness.
Stuart and members of the refurb team took part in The Street Soccer Sleepout at the Priestfield Stadium, home of Gillingham FC.
The sponsored sleep-out event aimed to replicate in part the experience of sleeping rough, in support of people in Kent who face it as a daily reality.
United Living has recently teamed up with organisers, The Street Soccer Foundation, a Kent-based charitable non-profit organisation which works to support vulnerable and homeless young people, through the delivery of its Street Soccer Academy. Offering a fusion of professional football coaching, mindset training and employability-driven ‘Skills to Succeed’ workshops, they harness the power of football to effect positive social change.
Stuart and his United Living colleagues are among business and community leaders who are raising awareness and cash to help alleviate the plight of homelessness, poverty and youth unemployment across the region.
The target amount is £16,000 and the money raised from the event will assist the Foundation in supporting young homeless people and those at risk from across the county.
