United Living attend The Women in Construction Summit
Three representatives from national contractor United Living attended The Women in Construction Summit 16th May 2019.
The event, held at the Olympia in London, saw leading industry figures come together to discuss how construction can continue to become a more diverse and inclusive industry.
Anne Newman, People Services Director, said: “The Women in Construction Summit was a great opportunity to network with a like-minded community who are looking for ways to improve the presence of women within the industry. We are actively working on our Equality Diversity and Inclusion 10 Point Plan and it was insightful to see how others within the industry are working together to show how a truly diverse and inclusive workforce is the future.”
Alongside Anne, Aga Storer (Design Manager) and Renata Molnar (Document Controller) attended the event from United Living. They were joined by the Lesley Tanner, who is the Head of Careers at the Harris Federation, to hear about the importance of promoting the industry to younger people, particular girls, as a great career choice.
Lesley said: “It has made me recognise how education needs to help break down some of the stereotypical thoughts to increase the number of women who get excited about working in a career in the construction industry”.
