Workshop held to encourage women into construction
Residents of Lewisham Homes have been given an opportunity to learn about the many opportunities available for women in construction at an interactive workshop held Friday 17th January.
The event, held by United Living and Lewisham Homes at the Old Town Hall, provided a chance for attendees to meet female professionals from within the industry and receive guidance on how to get into construction.
Jacqueline Noon, Social Value Manager for United Living South, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with a group of female residents in Lewisham to discuss the many roles and opportunities there are within construction. We were able to bust common misconceptions about the industry as well as highlight how construction is more than just bricks and mortar, and hope to have inspired those within the room to pursue a related career.”
The workshop included an in depth discussion with a variety of female staff including a SHEQ Advisor, Resident Liaison Officer, Site Manager and Bid Writer. Attendees were able to learn first-hand about how different each of these roles are, and find out the skills required to progress in those careers.
