Supporting our communities at the toughest time

 · Posted in News

United Living is continuing to work with its clients throughout the lockdown and is offering assistance where it can.

The Pepys Social Supermarket is a foodbank in Lewisham that has been boosted by help from the social value team.

The community service, which uses surplus supermarket food from national charity Fareshare, is currently feeding low income households from the Pepys estate, and last week alone, made 70 deliveries.

The store is run by volunteers from the area, and with an increase in demand during the UK lockdown, United Living’s social value manager, Jaqueline Noon has helped new volunteers to get the online food hygiene training they need to work at the project.

Jaqueline said: “With the country on lockdown, it’s important that we continue to support our clients and their projects. By getting the new volunteers quickly through the training needed, has meant that the supermarket can keep providing the much-needed service to the local community.”
