Overview of Project

  • Installation of the UK’s first ECOPOD system, essentially a combined boiler without gas which uses energy efficient sources to heat water
  • Utilised an innovative building management system reducing carbon emissions by more than 40%
  • An automated system to alert City West when vulnerable tenants are not using hot water
  • Energy efficient boilers and window replacements with the highest energy efficiency rating
  • An external cladding scheme to improve heat retention and enhance appearance
  • Refurbished communal areas, providing additional facilities for local residents
  • An on-site community centre for the benefits of local residents.

  • Reduced residents’ fuel bills, that on average have fallen from £20 to £5 per week
  • An employment and training programme that has secured full time employment for residents
  • A community investment programme that will equate to one new job created for every £2m spent
  • A blueprint for tacking fuel poverty and demonstrating the social impact of greening homes.
