Pillgwenlly Estate – Regeneration

  • Project:Pillgwenlly Estate – Regeneration
  • Client:Newport City Homes
  • Contract value:£8m

Duration: Feb 17 – Sep 18

Location: Newport

Project Partners: Stride Treglown and Currie & Brown

This work is part of a £10m investment in the area that has been five years in planning, including co-design by residents.

United Living is principal contractor for the work, which will see the community hub in Raglan Court demolished along with garages in Knight Close, Coulson Close, Francis Street and Alma Street.

A three-storey block of six one-bedroom flats and two three-bedroom houses will be built, as well as a new community hub.

These plans are a result of a dedicated group of residents, retailers and the wider community working with NCH to understand the unique and diverse needs of their community.

There are also over 30 stakeholders involved in the project. The community has previously been challenged by issues associated with deprivation and crime; this project is transforming the area and will help tackle antisocial behaviour and make a real difference to those living in the area.
