healthy homes for residents

Creating safe homes

Since the amendment to the Social Housing (Regulation) Bill and the introduction of the Awaab’s Law, more onerous requirements have been placed on how social housing providers manage and treat damp, mould, and condensation (DMC) in properties.

To ensure homes are safe and in good condition, many social housing providers are looking for specialist contractors to create healthy homes for their residents.

At United Living, our dedicated response teams are experienced in undertaking comprehensive investigations and design solutions that deliver safe and well-maintained homes, free from damp and mould.

Our state-of-the-art IT systems ensure we keep meticulous records, ensuring a clear and transparent audit trail, whilst facilitating a golden thread of information from project commencement to completion.

treating and preventing

Our service

Our dedicated response teams and extensive supply chain can provide a service tailored to exacting needs. From emergency repairs, including damp and mould, or other safety issues as part of a planned maintenance programme, we’ll be there when you need us.

We prioritise proactive and ongoing communication with residents, ensuring that all disrepair cases are handled with utmost sensitivity. Our goal is to ensure that residents are well-informed, supported, and their needs are carefully considered throughout the process.

peace of mind

DMC taskforce process

Within 24 hours: emergency repairs will be conducted.

Within 10 days of the initial enquiry: our team will promptly attend and conduct an initial property assessment, including the treatment of any visible mould during the first visit, along with providing a repair schedule.

Within an additional 4 days: facilitate client approval and communication with the resident regarding the plan of action.

As part of our continuous process, we offer the installation of smart sensors to monitor home performance, ensuring our clients’ peace of mind. Not only identifying the root cause of the disrepair issue but also generating valuable data for our teams to learn from.

safe delivery

Legal disrepair programme delivery process

Throughout our process, we maintain rigorous quality assurance checks overseen by our own management, with no comprise on our commitment to safe delivery. Granting our clients direct access to our schedules for booking works accelerates the delivery process and enables us to promptly address any repair needs.

In cases of damp and mould, classified as emergencies, some contractors may only provide surface-level solutions, such as a mould wash. However we go beyond this to pinpoint the root cause of the issue. Subsequently, a follow-up appointment is arranged to prevent any recurrence and mitigate further health risks to residents.

providing the best service

Technology

We pride ourselves on using the best available technology and innovative techniques to provide the very best service for our clients.

We partner with Totalmobile, a leading innovator in field service management and mobile workforce software solutions. This intuitive job management solution enables us to maximise the potential of our mobile workforce, giving our teams greater visibility and the ability to manage complex tasks. Being able to access and control all available data in one place allows for an improved experience for our clients and their residents.

Additionally, our teams have started utilising AI to pinpoint the underlying cause of damp and mould within residential properties, through advanced technology that detects structural issues by analysing images. Continuously providing the AI system with relevant data enhances its learning capabilities and enables it to identify increasingly complex issues.

Minecraft partnership with Skewb Climate

Minecraft educational module

Our interactive educational module teaches children about the dangers of damp and mould, while also educating them on effective ways to prevent the spread inside homes. The Minecraft module is set inside a home filled with different commonly found risks: rising damp, penetrating damp, and condensation.

Throughout the module, the player learns how to identify the signs of DMC, understanding the potential effects to their health and most importantly, the actions they can take to prevent it within their own homes.

Using this innovative tool with children not only educates future generations but can also help to address current issues by encouraging them to share what they have learned with their families, so that they can start to implement some of the simple measures in their own homes. The methods taught include opening windows and doors after a shower and turning on extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
