reducing our carbon emissions

Creating healthier homes

Around 300 homes need to be retrofitted every hour, if we’re to meet the UK’s net zero carbon target by 2050. It’s clear that the world is facing a climate emergency, and upgrading the nation’s homes is the biggest opportunity we have to reduce carbon emissions.

Here at United Living, we have invested heavily in the development of our in-house decarbonisation expertise. Our team has unrivalled experience of working collaboratively with our clients and supply partners, providing advice on strategy, funding, design and delivery for whole-house retrofits in order to achieve their net zero ambitions.

With our technical expertise and compliance support, our clients can upgrade their housing portfolio, reduce carbon emissions and help residents out of fuel poverty.

Together, we can create healthier homes.

providing insight and advice

Stock analysis and assessment

We’ll help to assess all stock data and carry out property assessments to advise and inform our clients as they embark on their retrofit journey. As well as this, we’ll help to align decarbonisation works against existing work programmes, to help cost savings.

Energy efficiency funding

With experience in securing funding from some of the UK’s major schemes, such as WH:SHF (formerly SHDF) and ECO, we’ll help to administer the whole process and provide insight and advice, to ensure all compliance requirements are met.

thought leadership

Investing in innovation now so the next generation can reap the benefits

The construction and housing sectors are firmly behind the UK government in its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. New homes are being designed and built to be net zero compatible.

Nevertheless, it is estimated that even by 2050, 80% of the homes are already standing, having been built when carbon emissions were not considered a priority. Consequently, more than half of currently available homes have an energy efficiency rating of EPC D or less.

This means the real test of our commitment will be whether we can improve the energy efficiency of existing homes. Put bluntly, we need to decarbonise 27 million homes in less than 30 years, which will need a substantial investment in mass-scale renovations to retrofit older homes.

Testimonials

What our clients say about us…

“My experience of working with United Living on the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund project has been refreshing and a real pleasure. The professional approach to planning and execution of the works is complemented well by their support and expertise, and they have worked collaboratively with us, along with our consultant partners and other partner contractors to deliver a complex programme of works in a relatively short delivery window.”

Paul Norman, Head of Asset Management, Clarion Housing Group

“This exciting project has been an excellent example of partnership working between Moat and United Living. Not only have we delivered a large range of improvements to customers’ homes but have also jointly launched a range of initiatives to bring the community together and provide opportunities to individuals. The collaborative team that we have created between both organisations, has helped make this project a great success”.

Marian Burke, Director of Strategic Asset Investment, Moat Homes
