Brand new BBQ ensures sizzling summer ahead at community play farm
Popular local attraction Jolly John’s Play Farm in Dorking, Surrey, has been equipped with a new state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen BBQ, meaning visitors can make even more of the hot weather during the 2016 summer season.
The new outdoor kitchen BBQ had its debut recently at the Circle Mole Valley Neighbours Day, where 600 residents of the housing association were invited to celebrate at the voluntary farm. Mole Valley Neighbours Day takes place every year and is an opportunity for local people to come together and get to know one another as part of a relaxed and informal occasion.
United Living supported the event by investing in the new outdoor kitchen for the Farm which is based at St John’s Community School.
Danielle Buckley, community development officer for United Living, said: “We’ve supported the annual neighbours day for a number of years and it’s always been an absolute pleasure. We decided this year that instead of simply hiring some BBQ equipment – as we have done in the past – we would purchase and install a full outdoor kitchen BBQ so that both the farm and St John’s Community School can use it again and again.
“We couldn’t have asked for better weather on the day we installed the equipment and it was fantastic to see so many resident’s enjoying the event along with some of our members of staff and volunteers from the play farm. It’s always rewarding to see our efforts having a really positive impact on our local communities.”
The installation of the outdoor kitchen BBQ has been made possible thanks to the partnership between United Living, Circle Mole Valley, and Jolly John’s Play Farm.
In previous years United Living has supported the farm by installing new water systems and electrics.
